2- mercaptobenzothiazole, yellowish monoclinic needle like or flaky crystal, with unpleasant odour. Insoluble in water and gasoline, soluble in ethanol, ethyl ether, acetone, ethyl acetate, benzene, chloroform and dilute lye. This product is widely used as a vulcanizing accelerator for all kinds of rubber. For natural rubber and synthetic vulcanizates vulcanized with sulphur, it has fast promotion effect. However, Zinc Oxide and fatty acids need to be activated. It is often used with other accelerant systems, such as with thioglycolm dithiocarbamate and tellurium dithiocarbamate as accelerant for butyl rubber, and with tri-salt-based lead maleate dilute diacid as accelerant for light color water-resistant chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber.

2-Mercaptobenzothiazole Application:

This product is widely used as a vulcanizing accelerator for all kinds of rubber. For natural rubber and synthetic vulcanizates vulcanized with sulphur, it has fast promotion effect. In the latex, it is often used with dithiocarbamate, but it can be vulcanized at room temperature when used with diethyldithiocarbamate diethylamine. It is easy to disperse and pollute in rubber. Accelerator M is the intermediate of accelerator MZ, DM, NS, DIBS, CA, DZ, NOBS, MDB, etc. 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole and 1-amino-4-nitroanthraquinone and potassium carbonate can be refluxed in dimethylformamide for 3 h to produce dye Disperse brilliant red S-GL (C.I.Disperse Red 121).
