Lauryl alcohol, also known as twelve alcohol, is named after its initial extraction from laurel bark. A chemical reactivity with high primary alcohols. It's almost nontoxic. Lauryl alcohol avoids contact with oxidizing agent, acid, acid chloride and anhydride. Character: pale yellow oil like liquid or solid, crystallized in acetic acid. It has the aroma of moonlight and violet, and has a very weak but long lasting oil flavor. Insoluble in water, glycerin, soluble in propylene glycol, ethanol, benzene, chloroform, ether.
