Ninhydrin Hydrate Price with CAS 485-47-2

Ninhydrin hydrate, yellowish crystalline powder, with 1 molecule of crystalline water, melting point 241-243 C (in 125-130 C dehydration and red). Soluble in alcohol and water, slightly soluble in ether and chloroform. Gradually discoloration in light or exposed air, and can absorb moisture and agglomerate.
Preparation method: Diethyl phthalate reacts with ethyl acetate in the presence of sodium metal to form ethyl benzopentadienyl formate, which is acidified to decarboxylate to form benzopentadienone and then oxidized to ninhydrin hydrate.
Purpose: This product is a sensitive reagent for protein, amino acid and peptone. The product was highly toxic and mice were injected intraperitoneally with LD50 for 78mg/kg.
